Make a random comment... about anything.

Random comment: On a 13 mile walk today I realized the drifter lifestyle I once hoped for was not for me.

The word monosyllabilic has more than one syllable.

The word cliche is a victim of its own definition
All the world will be your enemy, Prince of a Thousand enemies. And when they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you; digger, listener, runner, Prince with the swift warning. Be cunning, and full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed.

The word monosyllabilic has more than one syllable.

Monosyllabilic is a heterological word (words that aren't instances of the properties they express). 'Monosyllabilic' is not monosyllabilic, much like 'useless' is not useless. On the other hand, 'short' and 'polysyllabilic' are autological. the word 'short' is short, and 'polysyllabilic' has more than 1 syllable.

Now, is the word 'heterological' heterological? Because every word must be either heterological or autological (the dichotomy is exhaustive) then the word 'heterological' must be either heterological or autological. Is 'heterological' a word that isn't an instance of the property it express? If so then it is autological, for 'heterological' is a word that is an instance of the properties it expresses, because it is a word that isn't an instance of the property that it express. But that implies 'heterological' is heterological.

Therefore, 'heterological' is heterological if and only if it isn't heterological.

Don't you ever tire of destroying God's work?

Show Him some encouragement: it's His first crack at reality, and He's put a fair amount of effort in.

The water fire ceremony in Providence was beautiful. Lighting a long series of wood based fire on top of a river?! Take that nature!

Knock on the door of somebody in the Xhosa tribe for long enough, and you'll hear from within the building somebody saying, "There's a person with a loud voice and a bad stutter standing outside."

Apparently, as a young man, Sylvester Stallone once played in a porno film, he attributed his lack of money and resources, his general and overwhelming desperation as cause for his role in the movie. Desperation, though not of necessity, leads to the prostitution of the soul.

say your prayers
to the wind of prostitution
to your faces, and rex complexes
riddle my breast
full of the oppressed puss." -Bauhaus

It was after he did Rocky. It was entitled "The Italian Stallion". And it was softcore.

Information overload. Stallone only did a softcore film. Too many facts. The world has grown unmanageable for man. Too much. Transhumanism is on the way. A formidable match for all these facts. Consciousness as software. Immortality in the virtual realm. Reality is whatever I say it is there. I can be Descartes, I can be his demon. Facts. Too many. The world of information is demonic. Threatens to destroy man. Run and hide. Hide in the realm of the virtual. Hide amidst technology. The universe will destroy us. Entropy is God. And God always wins in the end. Not even the virtual realm can hide from God. Technology cannot save us from the wrath of God. Too many facts. Stallone once starred in a film entitled "The Italian Stallion." Information overload. Collapse. Like Slothrop.

The original poster to the film Man Bites Dog featured the film's protagonist/villain firing a gun downwards, with blood splashing upwards, as well as a pacifier flying form the mouth of an unseen baby.

For foreign release, the poster was changed to the following:

Disturbed? How far are our cultural critics and satirists willing to go? When is the utilization of, albeit "pretend" violence, for the sake of criticizing "actual" violence and the social structures that lead to this actualization, condemnable? What boundaries will not be crossed?

Notice the nature of the splatter of blood featured in the posters: the poster featuring the dentures has a more predominant splash of blood, it splashes all the up to the level of the barrel of the gun.

What disturbs me is not the showcasing of extreme violence directly, but the hiding of violence in real life situations, and portrayed a sexualization of violence. This is usually seen in military commercials where they advertise the abundance of violence inherit in the military as relatively sexy. It horrifies me.
