Peter's Photo

Peter  Good haul of spuds from our plot this year. My daughter just pulled up two humungous Lady Balfours.

Campanella's Photo

Campanella  I'm gnawed by contradictions, a merchant of psychoses, dominated by heretic frenzy, a philistine ignorant of 2000 yrs of theology.

muraii  Seriously, the problem with some of you people is that you don't see that *everything* is a Twitter "What's happening" text field. -Ish.

Galileo  : (Tue @ 03:02) New topic: Psychological Egoism, posted in Explore by DeadCanDance.
DaveT  : (Tue @ 01:59) I disagree, Campy.
TheBeast  : (Tue @ 01:55) Thus, it is obvious, that I have refuted it
TheBeast  : (Tue @ 01:53) Very well
Campanella  : (Tue @ 01:48) Actually I was hoping someone would refute that nihilistic blasphemy I posted. :nono:
DaveT  : (Tue @ 00:30)
TheBeast  : (Tue @ 00:13) Yeah, Dave, watch the video you posted up in the first place
DaveT  : (Tue @ 00:11) Seen it. So what?
Selfless Egoist  : (Tue @ 00:05) Dave, see Phil Plait's video.
DaveT  : (Mon @ 23:47) No
Selfless Egoist  : (Mon @ 23:46) Chat chat chat chat chat chat
TheBeast  : (Mon @ 23:29) My response to that was '[What's the point of wearing your favorite rocketship underpants if nobody ever asks to see 'em?], he's right'
TheBeast  : (Mon @ 23:28) Actually, that post you made about philosophy being dead
TheBeast  : (Mon @ 23:28) Yeah, and we will destroy you, Cam
DaveT  : (Mon @ 23:25) No fear, guys.
Campanella  : (Mon @ 22:43) And they will join TGL shortly. Soon, the beastification of TGL will be complete! :faint:
davidm  : (Mon @ 21:41) Last night in chat I found out that there are FOUR (4) Brothers Beast! :faint:

DaveT  : (Mon @ 15:09) Here's an interesting video. I don't know whether if it'll fit into a thread or if it's worth generating a new thread about it, but it's worth a watch
davidm  : (Sun @ 19:25) I still have a quite a few thigns to say add to your thread, and of course will have more once I've read the book.
davidm  : (Sun @ 19:24) DaveT
DaveT  : (Sun @ 19:20) YOU'RE ALL B****RDS!
davidm  : (Sun @ 19:17) Oh, wait, people are leaving.
davidm  : (Sun @ 19:17) chat?
davidm  : (Sun @ 19:14) Well, I'll have more for that thread a bit later.
davidm  : (Sun @ 19:14) all.
davidm  : (Sun @ 19:07) I see Dave T's excellent Hawkins thread has really generated a robust response.
Michael S. P...  : (Sun @ 12:27) Looks fixed to me. Huh. How could that have happened?
DaveT  : (Sun @ 09:11) I has brokened teh chat! :o
DaveT  : (Sun @ 09:11) Whoops. That wasn't supposed to happen.
DaveT  : (Sun @ 09:11) Sugoi: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
DaveT  : (Sun @ 09:11) She fell asleep on the Z key.
Sugoi  : (Sun @ 06:59) ¿?
Sugoi  : (Sun @ 06:59) Oh [What's the point of wearing your favorite rocketship underpants if nobody ever asks to see 'em?], yesterday I got asleep in front of the computer, while I was in the chat! :o
DaveT  : (Sat @ 22:00) Oh, and GTFI chat.
DaveT  : (Sat @ 21:59) Nonsense, David, Rob hasn't produced anything worth reading for weeks! :p
davidm  : (Sat @ 21:46) Nice work, Dave. The Brothers Beast continue to produce estimable content when motivated. I'll have more later; hopefully others will join in. Of course the best thing will be to read the book; only that way can comments be truly precise. Perhaps we might suggest a joint reading.
DaveT  : (Sat @ 21:43) Noted and edited.
davidm  : (Sat @ 21:25) Dave, one thing: it migh be helpful to put the exact quoted material in quote tags; it's a bit hard to follow where the quotes leave off and you come in.
DaveT  : (Sat @ 21:20) Well, wait a minute.
DaveT  : (Sat @ 21:20) Remember when I said Smith said Brief History of Time included the worst atheistic argument, etc?
davidm  : (Sat @ 21:19) Go ahead.
davidm  : (Sat @ 21:19) Posted a reply -- I see you've changed your avatar again, Dave. :shakehead:
DaveT  : (Sat @ 21:19) I need to make an addendum!
DaveT  : (Sat @ 21:19) Oh, hang on!
davidm  : (Sat @ 21:14) Still reding ... Hawking wrote, "Philosophy is dead"??
Sugoi  : (Sat @ 21:13) Anyone for chat?
davidm  : (Sat @ 21:08) Thanks Dave. I withdraw my :shakeDaveT: B)
DaveT  : (Sat @ 21:07) Oh, and sorry for the delay, I had to eat.
DaveT  : (Sat @ 21:07) I figured that as a title would attract more attention than "The Grand Design." B)
DaveT  : (Sat @ 21:07) According to a review on Amazon, Hawking says that on page 1.
DaveT  : (Sat @ 21:07) That's the thread, David.
Galileo  : (Sat @ 21:06) New topic: "Philosophy is dead", posted in Explore by DaveT.
davidm  : (Sat @ 21:03) :shakeDaveT:
davidm  : (Sat @ 20:53) I've already written my first reply without even seeing your OP; hurry up!
davidm  : (Sat @ 20:52) You writing it, Dave?
Hugo Holbling  : (Sat @ 20:14) Explore, I think.
DaveT  : (Sat @ 20:09) Should it go in Explore or Read?
DaveT  : (Sat @ 20:09) @Hugo: I think he does.
Hugo Holbling  : (Sat @ 20:05) @Campanella: Do you mean Paul Davies?
davidm  : (Sat @ 20:05) Just start the thread, DaveT. :x
DaveT  : (Sat @ 20:04) I think people might enjoy this.
DaveT  : (Sat @ 20:02) It looks like it's going to be "Stenger and Multiverse in one handy package."
DaveT  : (Sat @ 20:02) I'd like to read the book before I start or participate in a thread on it, however, according to a synopsis I read, much of it is an explanation and argument for the multiverse theory.
davidm  : (Sat @ 19:53) But that doesn't mean we can't start a thread anyway. :D
davidm  : (Sat @ 19:52) Obviously one will have to read the book to seriously address what he's saying.
davidm  : (Sat @ 19:52) None of these news stories on this topic are of any use at all.
Campanella  : (Sat @ 19:51) I thought that article was a classic species of journalism - written by someone who knows the least about the most in order to stay "objective."
Campanella  : (Sat @ 19:49) aye, a multiverse from which the current universe sprang from could have other dimensions than space or time. What they are may be beyond the limits of our cognitive capabilities.
davidm  : (Sat @ 19:43) Note that the issue touches on time as well.
davidm  : (Sat @ 19:42) DaveT, why don't you start the thread. It doesn't have to be a long OP. I'll weigh in as I have time. I have a link or two to put up, too.
DaveT  : (Sat @ 19:40) One of the commentators on that Guardian article suspects that the whole thing is a cheap publicity stunt by Hawking. I can see how there's some merit in that.
davidm  : (Sat @ 19:22) However, I'll try to start a thread in a little bit anyway.
davidm  : (Sat @ 19:16) I"m interested in discussing Hawking's claims, but the problem is that until one actually reads his book, no one knows exactly how his argument goes. Right now all we're getting is a quote or two pulled from the book, FWIW, Vic Stenger has a similar argument, and his stuff is all over the Web, so you can see how his argument goes.
Hugo Holbling  : (Sat @ 19:12) Here's a critique of Hawking's claims, if anyone wants to start a topic on the subject: Stephen Hawking's big bang gaps.
davidm  : (Sat @ 17:25) Back again.
AllBlue  : (Sat @ 02:04) Bye, davidm! Have a good holiday weekend!
AllBlue  : (Sat @ 02:03) Plath thread - good idea!
davidm  : (Sat @ 01:55) Ima go now, up early tomorrow.
davidm  : (Sat @ 01:41) HOw are you, AllBlue?
davidm  : (Sat @ 01:32) I suppose I might do a Plath thread one of these days.
AllBlue  : (Sat @ 01:29) Sounds interesting!
davidm  : (Sat @ 01:27) My God could she write poetry. :faint:
davidm  : (Sat @ 01:27) I am currently reading the restored, original collection of Plath's Ariel poems, before her husband [What's the point of wearing your favorite rocketship underpants if nobody ever asks to see 'em?]ed them up.
davidm  : (Sat @ 01:25) AllBlue
AllBlue  : (Sat @ 01:24) Hi TGL folks. How's tricks?
