    What to read?
    I am going to be study philosophy 1st year degree soon and wonder anything you find a intresting read? Based around the modules?. My three year degree works out like this sorry there aren't much detail. Also anyone recommend a book for nubie on Philosophy of science? cheers mates.

    Focus on European philosophyWhat will I be studying?

    Year 1 consists of 6 core units:
    Ethics and Social Philosophy
    Introduction to the Problems of Philosophy
    Introduction to Philosophical Methods
    Reason and Argument
    Introduction to Phenomenology
    Existentialism, Literature and Style
    Year 2 increases the focus on the reading of original texts.
    The 4 core units are:
    Ethics and Terror
    The Philosophy of Plato and its Presocratic Background
    Nietzsche and Sartre
    Metaphysics
    an additional optional units come from:
    Philosophy of Religion
    Political Theory
    Foucault
    Practical Ethics
    Year 3 deals more with the philosophical ideas and issues themselves and their articulation along with independent criticism.You will complete a dissertation and choose 4 option units. These currently include:
    The Philosophy of Literature
    Aesthetics and the Philosophy of Art
    Heidegger and the Crisis of Philosophy
    Wittgenstein
    Kant
    Philosophy and the Body
    Philosophy and the Human Sciences
